Fun Facts - Scotland

1) The main dialect in Aberdeen is Doric. Where E becomes Ah, and the epiglottis works like mad doing all the pronunciations. Eg.:
Everybody = Aebody
After = Affa
How = Fit
Hello, how are you? = Fit like
What are you doing = Fitya dee'in

2) Scotland has about the same land area as the Czech Republic, the United Arab Emirates, Panama, the US state of Maine, or the Japanese island of Hokkaido. This latter (Hokkaido) has the most similar climate and population density. (don't have to fly to Hokkaido for holiday anymore)

3) Famous people (That i know): Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Edison, Sir Alexander Fleming, Tony Blair, Gerald Butler, Sean Connery, Ewan McGregor, Colin Mochrie

3b) Bertie Charles Forbes, founder of Forbes Magazine, was born in Aberdeen.

4) There are over 30 places in the world called Aberdeen. 8 of them in USA. (Just like how Perth also exist in Scotland)

5) Aberdeen is known as Granite City. But also named, the Silver City, because the minerals in the granites that cover the road and house glitter in the sun.

6) Temperature: Record high (29.8C), average high (11°C). Record low (-18°C), average low (5°C).
